Banner
By Hannah Mwangi
<Verse 1>
You have led me this far
And You won’t leave me here
There’s no weapon formed against me
That I should fear
<Verse 2>
Though a thousand may fall
And ten thousand beside
I know your strong tower name
Is the place I hide
<Chorus>
We lift hands and hearts and voices
To honor You, God
And all the earth rejoices
At the power of Your great love
Jesus come alive in me
So that everyone would see
That Your banner over us is love
Yes, Your banner over us is love
<Verse 3>
You’ve already won the battle
This I’m standing on
There’s nothing that I face
That’s bigger than my God
<Bridge>
You’re raising
Raising up a standard
We’re praising
Praising Your Great Name

HIStory
by Hannah Mwangi
Your presence is a present you present in my present, right now. You pre-sent it before time began. And recently I've resented every moment I'm not with you. But then you re-sent your presence every time that I praise.
Jesus paid it all, no refunds. Only exchanges--rags for riches, sin for sanctification, prison for perfection. After rejection and re-rejection
You still pursue me. You rescue me, You re-skew me. Shifting sets of mind until mine is defined only by that which is Yours.
Your orchestral omniscience leaves me deficient of reasons not to return. You re-turn my life around when I'm found lost. And oh, what a cost. It's hard to conceive that you had me in mind before the inception of time. No word or rhyme could confine the divine wherewithal where with all you spoke and it was because you will so I'll be still and know. I'll taste and see. You redefine my sense of nonsense, confounding the wise. Unraveling the lies that were wound so tightly giving me new breath, resurrecting my hopes, my dreams, my desires...
If life is a time table you are the chandelier. Transcending all things, You make it crystal clear. You called me dear when I was dirty. You called me free when I was filthy. You called me redeemed when I was in rags. And now everyone I talk to needs to know and every moment lived I need to show what You have done for me. Abundantly--who else can promise pleasures forever? My treasure forever found in you. Abundantly, through history--what a grand mystery. It's history. Ever since Adam and even before Cain was able to Noah bout the arc of the story--Chronicles of Kings and things too heavenly to comprehend. It's history how God wrapped Himself in flesh like a Christmas present sent into time and what did we do? We ripped the packaging to shreds. Good thing He thought ahead. He already knew my story. It's my story, my sin and my crime and He did the time. My sin that nailed Him to the cross and double crossed Him. Tooth and nail--they broke Him ‘til the earth shook. It's my story--I was dining with swine after squandering my inheritance. It's my story--He didn't look at what I was. He looked at who He made me to be. The old man, it's all history. ‘Cuz really it's HIS story and His strength is my defense and His name is my tower and His faithfulness is my power and His grace is my answer and His victory is my victory and that's His story. Good thing He thought ahead.

Guilty Walkin’
by Hannah Mwangi
<Verse 1>
Come home it’s supper time, He said it’s getting dark outside.
But I kept walkin’ yall. On my back, a sack of pride.
Baby girl, don’t go that way. He said I really wish you would stay,
But I kept runnin’ yall. And to myself I would say.
<Chorus 1>
I’m guilty walkin’. I’ve got no business here
I deserve what’s coming to me. Just say that you never knew me
Cuz I’m guilty walkin’, guilty walkin’; I’m guilty walkin’.
<Verse 2>
Older don’t mean wiser, and I wonder if I wasted life,
See, I’m finding yall, this one can’t do it all.
Turned around to my surprise, He still had love in His eyes
For me, yall. It was all for me…
<Chorus 2>
But I was guilty walkin’. I had no business there,
Didn’t deserve what was coming to me.
But He said that He always knew me.
That I was guilty walkin’, guilty walkin’; I was guilty walkin’.
<Bridge>
He said baby girl, I gave it all for you,
came down here to walk in your shoes
I want you to be right here with Me
so throw off your guilt and shame, and be free
I told you once, I told you twice
Just remember the truth, you were always Mine
I don’t even care how far you’ve roamed
Just throw off your shame and come on home! Instead of…

Epiphany
by Hannah Mwangi
<Verse 1>
Reveal Yourself to me
Guide me with Your Light
Fill me with Your Spirit, Lord
Show me what is right
Let me hear Your voice
Above all the noise
Oh, God, Your perfect plan
Please, Lord, let me see
Reveal Yourself
To me
<Chorus>
Ooooooh, Sweet Epiphany
<Verse 2>
Heaven came to earth
By the virgin birth
You ripped right through the dark of night
Just to give me worth
You raised me from the dead
Now I’m alive within
Now I can live a servant to You
Please, Lord, let me be
Reveal Yourself
To me

Masterpiece
by Hannah Mwangi
I am broken.
And I’ll have no peace until I’m whole.
Filling this hole with this and that, chasing waterfalls and trying to hold them in my hands, grasping at the wind and trying to meet the storm’s demands…
But I’m broken.
This waiting’s too hard and too heavy a load. I thought I was on my way to riches untold, but behold. I’m beholden to the gods to whom I sold my soul. The same sins I thought I could control took control of me and divided me, casting lots for my robes, leaving me cold and ashamed.
I’d rather leave my sins unnamed, maybe then they can be tamed. Maybe if I numb me, maybe if I can’t see I’ll find relief. But my ignorance is not the bliss it promised to be.
I’m so broken.
But when the Light looks at me He traces my shape with His eyes and He calls me a masterpiece. He says I’m the Master’s piece and that He’s not done with me yet. The Master says, Peace. And I have to say, yes. Salvation means I’m the Master’s piece with the Master’s peace kissing the Master’s feet for what He’s done for me. God bless my brokenness that leads me to confess my utter powerlessness to live this life alone. A supernatural life requires supernatural help—that is, a Christian life requires supernatural help.
And so my Master pieces me together with you…and you…and you. See he left a little piece of me…a little brokenness that relates to you. And when we connect we see more of the picture on the box.
But I’m still being made. I’m still being chiseled…whittled by the Master carpenter whose sharpener is better than a two-edged sword. My Lord and my Master never moves faster than His plan. He doesn’t give in to my demands. He knows better. His ways hold the stars in place. So I just cooperate. He loves so He gives. And to make my love look like His, I give. I confess and I give Him my mess. I rejoice and I give Him my praise. I raise my hands and I give Him my devotion. I surrender. He’s with me. Always. Even when it hurts.
And He calls me. And He calls me His. And He calls me His masterpiece. And He gives me the Master’s peace—a peace I can’t even understand.

Without You
by Hannah Mwangi
<Verse 1>
I can’t breathe. I know there’s more to life than this
Abundantly, You promised me that I would live
And never die. That You would wipe the tears from my eyes
So I can see. And I give everything to You.
<Pre-chorus>
Where You go I’m sure to follow
Through the storm and through the sorrow
<Chorus>
Without You, there’s nothin’ worth a-tryin
Without You, livin’s just like dyin’
Without You...no matter the cost, no matter the loss
I don’t wanna be...without You
<Verse 2>
I’m wastin’ time...starin’
out the windows of my mind
You’re mine. Taste and see and seek and find
Oh, the world, has tried to rip me from you fingers
But melodies of your faithfulness still lingers
<Pre-chorus>
Better’s one day, in Your courts they
Cannot match Your love and mercy...
<Chorus>
<Bridge>
Where can I go from Your presence? Where can I go from Your love? (X2)
Speak to me and bring me life (x4)
<Chorus>
